Corporal 28331/1072/276072, 15th Trench Mortar Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Died 23/07/1917.

 

Born in Snape in 1881 the second of seven children of Herbert Storey and  Anna nee Everitt.   William joined the Royal Artillery, 28331, from the Suffolk Volunteer Artillery (Eastern Division Royal Artillery) on  14 June 1898 stating his age as 18 but he would have only been 17 at the oldest. During the next twelve years he saw service in Gibralter, India & Aden before being discharged 13 June 1910.

 

He re-enlisted in the Royal Garrison Artillery (1072) 31 Aug 1914 as a Gunner. Awarded the Military Medal in August 1916. Buried at Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetery.
