The 1953 Floods

For the 70th anniversary commemoration we have made a sign for each area or road where a life was lost.  These will be put up during the week preceding the anniversary and remain in place for two weeks after.  They will serve as a reminder of the 41 who perished that night and will be put up every year going forward.

Jean Macpherson's new book - “The Felixstowe Floods of 1953- Never to be Forgotten”, will be available at the end of January to coincide with the 70th Anniversary. If you would like a copy they will be available from Jean, Nick Barber Auctions,(154 Hamilton Road Felixstowe), and Stillwater Books ( 36 Hamilton Rd, Felixstowe) Price £18.

The Launch date is on 28th January 2023 in Felixstowe Town Library 11-2 pm where the book will also be on sale. 

The Town Library are also running an exhibition over the anniversary period.

The book includes 90 plus colour pages of photographs, memories, the aftermath and the building of the memorial at Felixstowe. The book also includes the two areas affected in Felixstowe, Felixstowe Ferry and the West End. New research, timelines, maps, and memories from over 50 people plus information on the all important never to be forgotten 41 who lost their lives in the worse natural disaster to strike Felixstowe.
