Private 14950, 8th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Died 02/06/1916. Age 30.

 

Born 1886 in Kirton the youngest of three children of Frederick Rushbrook and Eliza nee Vincent of The Street, Nr Manor Farm Kirton (this is now known as Bucklesham Road).  He worked as a game keeper and had a brother Herbert and sister Edith.

 

William entered the conflict with the 8th Suffolk Regiment on 25 July 1915 for which he received the 1914-1915  Star. Killed in action 02/06/16. Buried at Carnoy Military Cemetery. Inscription on headstone reads “Peace Perfect Peace”. Private Rushbrook is also commemorated on the Kirton War Memorial
