William Daniel Horne

44392, Private William Daniel Horne, age 31
11th Battalion, South Wales Borderers
Died 03 August 1917

William was born Old Felixstowe in April 1886. In 1911 he lived 6 Nacton Road, Felixstowe with his wife Rhoda and son Ernest, at this time he was a house painter.  In 1912 his wife Rhoda died, he then re-married in April 1914 Rose Clark, their daughter Rose was born in 1916.

 

When he first joined the army he was in the Royal Engineers with a number 176622, he then moved to be 44395, 11th Battalion, South Wales Borderers. He died of wounds 03/08/1917 age 31 and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres, Belgium. 

 

His wife Rose died in 1919, leaving both children as orphans.  His daughter Rose died in 1930 age 14 and his son Ernest died 11 Feb 1935 age 25 he was married to Dorothy Rosa Read and lived at Minnockwood Trimley St Martin.
