William was born in 1887 and lived in Lower Street, Falkenham, with his father John, mother Susanah, and his 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

 

William served in 1st Battalion The Essex Regiment, he was killed during fighting with the Turkish near Gallipoli on 6th June 1915, aged 28.  He was buried by his comrades on the battlefield.  He is commemorated on the Helles Memorial and on the Falkenham War Memorial.
