Private 305319, Suffolk Yeomanry. Died 07/07/1918. Age 39. Son of Samuel Edward Johnson and Maria nee Durrant of Beccles. Husband of Rose Anne nee Mazenod.

 

Samuel ‘s occupation, according to the 1911 census, was a coach painter for the Great Eastern Railway. He had married a French wife, Rose in 1908 and they were living in Felixstowe at 12 Felix Road.

 

Samuel served overseas with the 4th Suffolk Regiment (2213) before transferring to the Suffolk Yeomanry. His death, at the age of 39, is recorded at Colchester General Hospital, he died of Pyelitis (Kidney Infection). He is buried in St Peter and St Paul graveyard and commemorated on Felixstowe Seafront Memorial.
