Hugh Arthur Dickens

Hugh was born in Luton in 1894, and lived in Suffolk House, Holland Road Felixstowe in 1911, with his father Albert Edward Dickens who was a tailor and his mother Carrie Timms, Hugh was an only child.

 

Hugh was a Private in the 100th Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps No. 473334, and died in France 14 March 1918, he died as a result of gassing. He is buried at St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France.  This cemetery was used to bury the dead from the hospitals in and around Rouen after the city cemetery was filled. There are 8348 Commonwealth soldiers buried in the extension.
