Horace was born in Walton and lived in High Street Walton in 1901 and then Dove Cottage, Dovercourt in 1911 working as a Market Gardener.

He boarded the Aberdeen Line ship Demosthenes in London on 8th January 1914 bound for Freemantle, Australia where he was going to work as a Farm Labourer. 

 

Shortly after arriving in Australia, he signed up to the Australian Infantry.  He died at Gallipoli on 29th May 1915 and is buried at Lone Pine Cemetery, he left £106 in his probate to his father in Dovercourt.
