Born in Walton, the only child of Ernest Edward Pearce & Clara Matilda nee Smith. In 1911 the family were living at 240 High Street, Walton where Ernest's occupation is given as Carpenter / Joiner.

 

The 2nd Battalion landed at Gallipoli as part of the 86th Brigade in the 29th Division in April 1915. Gordon is showing as arriving 26 May & was awarded the 1914 - 1915 Star.  After initially being reported wounded this was updated to wounded & missing, he was subsequently reported as presumed dead on or since 06/06/15. Commemorated on the Helles Memorial among over 20,000 who gave their lives at Gallipoli.
