Gunner 927094, 67 Medium Regiment, Royal Artillery. Died 14/11/1942, Age 32.

 

Born in Accrington in 1910, the second of three children of Frank Isaac Franks & Margaret Gatward nee Storey. By 1939 the family had moved to 9 High Road East, Frank being recorded as a Master Builder. Gilbert had married Mary Wakeford in 1936 & they were living at "Wakeford" 63 Mill Lane, Felixstowe

 

Died when the SS Scillin was sunk off Tunisia. Commemorated on the Alamein Memorial
