Flight Sergeant (Air Bomber) 395910, 75 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Died 25/08/1944. Age 21.

 

Born 30th November 1922 at Felixstowe the elder of two children and only son of Arthur Edward Vincent and Muriel Ada nee Minns. In 1939 the family were living at 25 St. Andrews Road, Felixstowe where Arthur was working as a builders labourer & Frank was working for the waterworks.

 

Flight Sergeant Vincent was Air Bomber on Lancaster LM593 which took off from Mepal 2025 hrs 25th August 1944, their mission was to bomb the Opel works at Russelsheim. The plane was brought down over Germany, crashing near Neunkirchen; 38 miles North West of the target. There were no survivors. All seven crew are now buried at Rheinberg War Cemetery2.

 

In March 1944, 75 Squadron began to re-equip with Lancasters and was ready in time to participate in preparation and support of the Allied invasion, the bombing of flying-bomb sites and close-support of the armies. In the later stages of the war No. 75 Squadron played a prominent part in the offensive against German oil production and transport.
