Sergeant 565429, Royal Air Force. Died 20/04/1942. Age 26.

 

Born in Leeds in 1915, the son of John Preston and Edith nee Heath. In 1936 Douglas married Ruby Beatrice Soanes, their first son John was born in 1937 and second son Alan in 1939.  Ruby's parents lived at 47 King Street, Walton.

 

Sergeant D H Preston was killed on board aircraft carrier USS Wasp in a flight deck accident involving a Spitfire aircraft, 20 April 1942. Buried at Felixstowe New Cemetery.
