He is the son of William and Sophia Belgrove of "Broxholme'', Holland Road, Felixstowe. He was married to Gertrude May Belgrove of "Burwood", Cornwall Road, Felixstowe. Charles is buried at Fienvillers British Cemetery.

His family, the Belgrove’s, came from Shepherd’s bush to Felixstowe and ran a laundry just off Garrison Lane, in Buregate Road, for all the hotels in the area. At the end of the 19th century, Felixstowe was a very flourishing tourist place.
