Private G/51828, 10th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. Died of wounds 12/04/1917. Aged 19.

 

Cecil was Harkstead and enlisted in Felixstowe. He was the son of Nathaniel and Minnie Clarke and had 5 brothers and 2 sisters. The family lived at 95, Chapel Lane, Walton, Felixstowe, Suffolk in 1911. He died aged 19 on 12 April 1917 and is buried in Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun, Pas de Calais, France. Plot III. Row G. Grave 36.  Due to the date he died and the cemetery it can be safely assumed he died on the 3rd day of the Battle of Arras.

Cecils half brother Cecil J Clarke was born in 1917 and died during the Second World War, he is also named on the Felixstowe War Memorial.
