Sergeant 22155, 15th Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Died 06/09/1916. Buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery.

 

Born in Stratford, Essex, one of eleven children of Richard Hodsoll, a general labourer & his wife Catherine nee Howell. In 1907 he married Walton resident Florence Riches and by 1911 they were living at 59 Chapel Lane, Walton where Arthur was working as a Signwriter for Great Eastern Railway.

 

The 15th Battalion were part of the Battle of Albert 1–13 July 1916, the first battle of the Somme where they suffered severe losses, Arthur later died due to his wounds. At the time of his death Florence was living at 322 High Street, Walton.
